SPARTANS OPEN SEASON WITH VICTORY

On Friday, the MiraCosta women's soccer team played their first game of the sesaon where they hosted the Norco College Mustangs, soundly beating them 1-0.  

The Spartans dominated possession of the ball, keeping it for the majority of the game. MiraCosta also had a strong defense, anchored by Aleah Minnich, Jordan Fawcett, and Araceli Mejia.  The Spartans defense held Norco scoreless, while playing with skill and control out of the back.

In the middle, MiraCosta's Jazmyne Arispe played a strong match, winning the ball back consistently and making dynamic runs that led to scoring opportunities. 

The lone goal of the game was scored in the 42nd minute by Aleah Minnich and assisted by Roselyn Hernandez.

MiraCosta's forwards were aggressive attacking.  Lena Bachman, Raigan Jager, Elisa Dunn, and Lissette Bahena all put pressure on the Norco defense.

Freshman goal keeper, Arely Sarabia, played ninety minutes and and was credited with two saves.

MiraCosta is next in action on Sunday against Santa Monica College at 2:00 pm.
