 Preparticipation Physicals

Preparticipation physical exams will be conducted by the team physician and the sports medicine team for prospective MiraCosta College athletes at the Athletic Training Room, OC 5106, at a date and time to be announced, at no charge. Please be on time and do not exercise prior to the exam. 

All student athletes are required to complete a preparticipation physical exam prior to any tryouts, practices or contests (including non-traditional competitions). If you are interested in participating in a sport at MiraCosta College, but are unable to attend the on campus screening exams, please prepare the documents included in the packet linked below. The form titled "Sports Preparticipation Physical Exam" will need also to be completed by your primary care physician or another examining physician. Submit all completed documents to the MiraCosta College Athletic Trainer prior to the first day of participation. Dr. Loren

 Dr. Loren

Dr. Loren was born in Orange County, California, and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree, Summa cum Laude, in 1987 from the University of California, Irvine, School of Biological Sciences. In 1991, he was awarded his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the UCLA School of Medicine with Honors in Surgery as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.  Dr. Loren completed an Internship in Surgery and Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, San Diego, serving as Chief Resident in Orthopaedic Surgery from 1996 to 1997.  In addition, he has completed post-graduate Fellowships in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy as well as Orthopaedic Research.

Dr. Loren is a Clinical Instructor at the UCSD School of Medicine and is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and remains active teaching at national and international conferences and publishing scientific articles on Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine.

Through the Athlete Services Department of CORE Orthopaedic, Dr. Loren treats local recreational and national competitive athletes and Action Sports Athletes with levels of competition ranging from amateur you to high school, collegiate, and professional. Dr. Loren specializes in treating injuries and disorders on the shoulder, knee, ankle, as well as fractures of the extremities.
