Spartans Finish Season on High Note

In their last conference match the MiraCosta men's soccer team played like champions.  As the visiting team at their cross-town rival, the Spartans got up for the big match and earned a 4-0 result. 

Hirouki Yabiku started off the scoring, putting one in the back of the net in the 7th minute.  Yabiku, filling in as the starting midfielder after an injury to Yan De Moraes a few games earlier, proved to have a significant impact on the game also assisting on a goal in the second half.  Other goals were scored by

The Spartans dominated play from the kickoff including time of possession, total shots on goal and holding the Comets scoreless.  The defensive anchors of Ricardo Gonzalez, Raul Guzman, Joseph Kicko, and Emilio Bunnell Vazquez were steady as usual and made it an eventless day for the goalkeepers, Oscar Sowell and Luis Briseno.

The Spartans finished fifth in the conference standings, stuck in the top group where only three points separated second place from fifth place.  MiraCosta finishes the season 7-7-7 but lost only twice in their last eleven games.
