Freshman outside hitter Hayley Torres was recently honored by the San Diego Sports Association as one of the November Stars of the Month. This exclusive honor has been bestowed by the San Diego Sports Association (formerly the Hall of Champions) since 1946 to recognize only the highest performing local athletes including the likes of Bill Walton, Tony Gwynn, Shaun White, Kawhi Leonard, and many more of San Diego's top achievers.

Each month, no more than six high school athletes, six amateur athletes, and four professional athletes earn this recognition. Needless to say, Torres is in fine company with this honor. In the month of November other student-athletes in San Diego that were honored include Isaiah Pineiro (Men's Basketball, USD), Courtney Vincent (Swimming, SDSU), Megumi Barber (Women's Soccer UCSD) and Daulton Hommes (Basketball, Point Loma Nazarene).

Torres helped MiraCosta to three top 25 wins in November while capturing the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship with a 9-1 record.  Torres was credited with 58 kills on a .326 hitting percentage and added 24 digs and seven blocks over the same time frame.
