Balanced Attack Leads To Spartan Sweep Over Eagles

After a successful pre-conference schedule (15-2 and #7 ranking in the state) the MiraCosta women's volleyball team took the court against the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles to begin Pacfic Coast Athletic Conference play.  A theme that was common in the Spartans' first 17 matches was overall depth and balance on their offensive attack.  Friday night in front of an excited Spirit Night crowd was no different for MiraCosta.

The Spartans swept a talented Eagle squad with a balanced offensive attack led by Maddison Penrod (seven kills), Makayla Sua (six kills), Claudia Mathews (five kills) and three players with four kills.  Sophomore Cady Delay led the way with 21 assists and Lana Salazar added four serving aces.

Cady Francis and Lana Salazar anchored the defense with a combined 26 digs.

MiraCosta is next in action on Wednesday October 12th at College of the Desert at 5pm.
