Freshman Faleumu Leads The Way In Road Win

The MiraCosta College women's volleyball team entered tonight's road match with a 5-1 record and something to prove.  The team played with confidence and led by the strong play of freshman Violeti Faleumu, swept Fullerton College 3-0.

Violeti Faleumu, who had 12 kills and hit a .385, proved to be a force on the court. Sophomore Cady Delay added 7 kills with a .545 proficiency, and Roni Long had 6 kills with a .312 proficiency. Makayla Sua led the Spartans on the defensive side with five blocks. Cady Francis also made strong contributions from the backcourt with 13 digs. Cady Delay served four aces and dished out 28 assists.

The Spartans were happy to welcome Madeleine Alper back to the court as she made her first appearance in 2016. Alper missed the first six matches due to recovery from a minor surgery. She averaged three digs a set. Tonight the Spartans averaged 12.6 kills p/set.

The Spartans (6-1) are next in action at Cerritos College for a tournament Friday and Saturday beginning against Long Beach College at 9AM.
