Deep Spartan Squad Wins Two At Bakersfield

To follow up a strong showing on their opening weekend the MiraCosta College women's volleyball team has added to its resume an undefeated day today in the Bakersfield College quad. The Spartans swept Antelope Valley College to open the day and then beat Bakersfield College for the second time in the last eight days.  

MiraCosta swept the Mauraders from Antelope Valley College 3-0.  Freshman Claire Kinder led all players with 11 kills. Setter Adrianna Visesio led the team with 15 assists and sophomore Cady Francis contributed 11 digs and two aces.

Next MiraCosta won a close one against the Bakersfield College Renegedes in a five game match. Freshman Claudia Mathews had 12 kills and sophomore Lana Salazar had a double double with 12 kills and 15 digs. Other strong contributions came from Maddison Penrod (10 kills and five blocks) and Claire Kinder (9 kills.)  Sophomore setter Cady Delay led the Spartans with 36 assists and nine digs.  Cady Francis, libero, set a school record with 33 digs.

The Spartans continue to be road warriors as they travel to Fullerton College on Wednesday, September 7th at 6pm.  MiraCosta's first home stand will be in one of two quads that they are hosting on Friday September 16th when they will compete against Chaffey College and East LA College.
