MiraCosta showcased the depth of their squad with 18 players contributing in the win. The Spartans were led by freshman libero Cady Francis who had 17 digs in the match, and averaged a team high 5.5 digs per set in the two matches this evening. Sophomore Brianna Sizemore continued her strong play with a team high 10 kills and registered a .435 hitting efficiency. Sophomore Nicole Alderman attacked at a team high .500 hitting percentage with 7 kills in two sets. Freshman Leah McManus made the most of her 6 attempts, putting away 4 balls with only 1 error, giving her a .500 hitting efficiency.

The match was never in doubt as the Spartans jumped out to early leads in each of the 3 sets. The team continued their strong serving, recording 10 aces in the match. The Spartans hit .312 on the match, recording 35 kills, 40 digs, and 5 total blocks.

"We have a very deep and talented squad this season and it was nice to have everyone involved in the match. This was a great team win," head coach Kristen Wright stated.

With this win MiraCosta now moves to 3-0 on the season.  

NEXT UP

The Spartans next match will be against cross town rivals Palomar College at home on Friday September 18th at 4:30pm. This will be their first PCAC conference match of the season. MiraCosta will then travel on Saturday, September 19th to Santa Barbara City College to take on Fullerton and Golden West College.
