The Spartans started out the first set of the match on fire with 16 kills and a hitting percentage of .438, defeating Chaffey College 25-5. In set two of the match Chaffey made a few adjustments and through some tenacious defensive play held MiraCosta to only 12 kills on 43 attempts. The Spartans were able to win some key points down the stretch and closed out Chaffey, coming away with a 25-22 victory. In set 3 MiraCosta was able to jump out to an early lead and hold on to it thanks to some aggressive serving by sophomore setter Jessica Zieg, who had 22 service attempts in the match which helped lead to 17 points, and she tacked on 4 aces. She also distributed her way to 37 assists. MiraCosta closed out set 3 by a 25-14 margin.

Sophomore Brianna Sizemore led all attackers with 12 kills, and added 13 digs. Sophomore Breanna Kirklen proved to be the most efficient attacker of the match hitting a .500 with 8 kills. Sophomore Nicole Alderman attacked at a .400 efficiency with 10 kills. Freshman Elayna Cramer also contributed 8 kills. Freshman libero Cady Francis stabilized the back row with 16 digs. MiraCosta finished the match with a hitting percentage of .300, 45 kills, 8 aces, 41 digs, and 5 blocks.
