Sophomore defender Casey Martinez has been a force to be reckoned with all season and the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference noticed.  For her stellar play, Martinez was named the Athlete of the Week for September 26 - October 2.  In that time the Spartans beat rival Palomar (3-0) and Mesa (1-0), quickly moving up in the conference standings. MiraCosta currently sits in second place with a 5-1 record, with eight conference games left to play.

Martinez has been the foundation of a Spartan defense that has only give up one goal in the last five games.  You can watch Martinez and her team play next on Tuesday, Oct 11th at Miramar College at 1PM.
