The women's basketball team has won three in a row with victories over Compton College, LA Harbor College and LA Southwest College.  

After a convincing 63-31 win over Compton College, the Spartans won a close match over LA Harbor by a final score of 64-61.  Allie Lorton led the way with 20 points and nine rebounds. Three other players added double digit scoring including Samantha Mowrey (12), Jailyn Ibarra-Garrett (11) and Jasmine McNeal (10). McNeal also added 11 rebounds and four blocks.

The LA Southwest game was a close one as well, completing the comeback to win 66-65.  After trailing 53-40 after three quarters, MiraCosta exploded for 23 points in the fourth quarter to outscore their opponents by fourteen and win by one.  Samantha Mowrey led the Spartans in scoring with 18 while Allie Lorton added 17.  Sophomore center Dana Cephas had a nice game adding nine points and seven rebounds.

The Spartans managed the win despite a cold shooting night, making only 20% from behind the three point line and 56% from the free throw line. MiraCosta did finish with fewer turnovers and more rebounds then LA Southwest.

MiraCosta is next in action against Consumnes River College in the second day of the Grossmont College holiday tournament.
