The MiraCosta women's basketball team opened their season with a 70-29 win over Compton College.  After a slow start, the Spartans dominated the game, creating opportunities with their defensive pressure and scoring easy baskets.

Eight Spartan players scored, led by sophomore forward Mayleen Garcia wiht 19 points. Amelika Tuiono and Jailyn Ybarra-Garrett both add 11 points while Jasmine McNeal and Ishazayia Carter contributed eight each.

Samantha Mowrey and Dana Cephas both finished with nine rebounds.

The Spartans are next up on Friday at Glendale College.
