Behind McGee's Hot Night, Spartans Run Away From Desert

Women's basketball team and recruits on the court.

It was recruit day for the women's basketball team at MiraCosta College and the outcome couldn't have been better.  With 16 prospective future Spartans in the crowd, MiraCosta's high energy defense and aggressive offense left College of the Desert without an answer.  MiraCosta ran away with the game by a final score of 80-56 led by freshman forward Tervetta McGee's impressive 28 points and 12 rebounds.  Equally as impactful was Breanna Morales' near triple double with eight points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists.  Sophomore captain Colleen Murphy added 16 points and five rebounds to go along with her constant positive energy.

The half-time score was 42-21 but the Spartans were finished there.  Behind a 22 point third quarter MiraCosta stretched their lead and would never look back.

All Spartans scored.  In addition to McGee, Murphy and Morales MiraCosta also got contributions from Aracely Hernandez-Garcia (eight points), Victoria Wilson (seven points), and Britney Jarvis (six points.)

MiraCosta will continue conference play on Wednesday at Mt. San Jacinto at 6PM.
