Behind strong performances from sophomore Teya Searles and freshman Tervetta McGee, the MiraCosta women's basketball team beat Porterville College and LA Harbor College in convincing fashion. The two wins moved the team forward into the championship of the San Diego City College tournament where they faced Cerritos College. By the third day the fatique affected the Spartans and Cerritos came out victorious, however there were many highlights from the tournament that MiraCosta will build on. One of the first bright spots was the play of Teya Searles, filling up the boxscore against Porterville. Searles scored 30 points on 13 shots and also had seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Another standout from the tournament was Tervetta McGee who finished a double-double against LA Harbor. McGee had 21 points and 15 rebounds in a dominant performace.
Other strong contributions were made by Britney Jarvis, Colleen Murphy, and Breanna Morales.
The Spartans are next in action on Friday November 24th at the LA Pierce tournament.
