After a huge win the night before and playing their third game of the week, the MiraCosta Spartans came up two points short when the buzzer sounded on Saturday against Mesa College.

The Spartans, led in scoring by Colleen Murphy (18), had the lead at the end of the first quarter 16-12.  After the score was 21-15,  the Olympians went on a 23-0 run to pull ahead 38-21 in the third quarter.  MiraCosta had a run of its own, taking the lead at 51-50 before time ran out with the final score of 54-52. Teya Searles added 13 points to support Murphy.

The Spartans will play twice next week in cross-over conference play.  Wednesday they host Southwestern College and Friday will travel to San Diego City College. Both games tip off at 5pm.
