Women's Basketball Drops Season Opener

In the second year of Coach Kai Harris' tenure as the women's basketball coach at MiraCosta College, much has changed.  The Spartans start the season with a full roster of twelve student-athletes that bring much excitement to the program.  Players represent local high schools (Torrey Pines, Carlsbad, Mission Vista, Mission Hills, San Marcos and Del Norte) and schools from the Inland Empire (Elsinore, Chapparal, and Murrieta Mesa). The team features ten freshman and two sophomores.

In their first game of the season at Glendale College the Spartans came out strong, ending the first quarter of play trailing only 17-14.  In the next three quarters Glendale ran away with it by a final score of 72-45.

MiraCosta was led in scoring by Camille Blaye Cook (14), Teya Searles (9) and Danielle Bosley (8).  Searles led the way with ten rebounds, seven of those were defensive.

The Spartans are next in action on Friday November 18th in the LA Southwest College tournament.
