Exciting Finish Ends in A Draw

The first time the Spartans played Mesa College it ended in dramatic fashion with MiraCosta scoring two goals in the last two minutes to even the score at 2-2.  Today, after a well played game and a flurry of scoring opportunities in the final minutes, the Spartans earned another tie game with a 1-1 result. 

The Spartans got on the score board first with a goal in the 50th minute by Eddie Franco, assisted by Cheyne Hausmaninger.  In all the Spartans had seven shots and five shots on goal.  In the final minutes MiraCosta created many opportunities to score but couldn't put the ball in the net. The final play of the game was a corner kick by Yan De Moraes that was well placed but the physical defense of Mesa College denied the score.

Goal keeper Luis Briseno played all 90 minutes and had two saves. Mesa College had opportunities of their own to score, one of which was on a penalty kick due to a foul in the box. Mesa's equalizing goal came in the 84 minute.

MiraCosta received strong contributions from Julio Sanchez, Joseph Kicko, Guilherme Guimares and the strong defense made up of Ricardo Gonzalez, Raul Guzman, and Kicko.
