Hausmaninger nets hat trick as men's soccer rolls to 6-0 victory over Imperial Valley

In a match the Spartans needed to have to continue rising in the California Commmunity College Athletic Association RPI rankings, the MiraCosta College men's soccer team scored three goals in an 11-minute span in the first half to run away with a 6-0 decision over Imperial Valley College.

Five Spartans scored on the day, with the scoring spree beginning in the 29th minute with the first of three goals by Cheyne Hausmaninger after the feed from Julio Sanchez near the end line. Three minutes later, the fourth corner kick of the half for Joseph Kicko resulted in a header for Emilio Bunnell Vasquez. In the 40th minute, Eddie Franco found the back of the net to make it 3-0.

In an even smaller time frame then the first half, the Spartans then scored three goals in only a six minute period as Hausmaninger put in back-to-back goals in the 66th and 68th minutes to record the hat trick, and Raul Guzman converted on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute to cap the scoring.

It was the second Pacific Coast Athletic Conference win of the season for MiraCosta (2-4-3, 2-0-2 PCAC), who has now alternated between ties and wins through each of its first four matches of the current league slate. Imperial Valley remained winless on the year at 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

Nine Spartans had two or more shots with Guzman leading the way with six. Mazariegos and Hausmaninger each added three shots on goal.

In addition to keeping the action on the attacking side of the field for the vast majority of the match, the Spartans defense limited Imperial Valley to only two shots, one of which did not come until the final minute.

Next up, MiraCosta will remain at home on Friday, September 30, as the Spartans battle Cuyamaca College at 1:30 p.m. in an effort to remain undefeated in the PCAC.
