Second Half Secures The Spartan Win

After a less than enthusiastic first half the MiraCosta men's basketball team found themselves trailing by fifteen.  The second half brought a different Spartan team that was energized and focused which led to a comeback for  a close two point win over a very tough Rio Hondo College team.  The final score was 69-67 and the Spartans were led in scoring by Buddha Boyd (17), Aashad Womack (16) and Kamien Cederlind (13).  The Spartans outscored their opponents 44-27 in the second half but momentum shifted with the defensive energy that was led by freshman Billy Brown.

Sophomore Tristan Neihart contributed a momentum shifting dunk that brought the crowd to their feet and carried into the coming minutes.  Travell Hector, sophomore point guard, made two free throws to seal the win in the last seconds.

The Spartans will play in the championship game tomorrow at Miramar College at 4pm against Cerritos College.
