Spartans Upset #4 Team In State

The first time the Spartans played Mt. San Jacinto College they led by 21 at halftime, but couldn't hold on to win.  After having key players foul out they lost in overtime.

Tonight when the Eagles came to Oceanside to play MiraCosta, the Spartans took the lead and never looked back.  Led by a career high for sophomore  Buddha Boyd (42 points), the Spartans led from start to finish.  Aashad Womack added 16 points and Cody Hicks (11) and Tristan Neihart (10) scored critical baskets.  The final score was 94-78.

The defensive prowess of Travell Hector, Billy Brown and Juwan Richardson was equally important guarding the Eagle guards.

Mt. San Jacinto entered the game with a 24-4 record and a #4 state ranking.

The Spartans finish their conference schedule on Friday against Grossmont College at 5PM in Spirit Night.  With a win MiraCosta makes a strong bid for one of the last spots in the CCCAA state playoffs starting next week.
