Fueled by the scoring of sophomore Buddha Boyd and freshman Aashad Womack the MiraCosta College men's basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to beat Southwestern College 79-74. The Spartans (8-8) also received a big boost in scoring from Tristan Neihart (15 points) and Kamien Cederlind (8 points).
The MiraCosta zone defense slowed down the dynamic guard play of Southwestern College. The Spartans also showed progress in their execution on offense, scoring a majority of their points near the basket.
The Spartans continue to prepare for conference play with a game at San Diego City College on Wednesday and a home game on Friday versus Imperial Valley College at 7pm.
