After a slow start, the MiraCosta women's basketball team gave the fans an exciting last minute in their game against Grossmont College. With just under a minute to play, the Spartans trailed by six points.  In their next two possessions Jailyn Ybarra-Garrett made 3-point shots to tie the game.  Grossmont had a chance to win but missed their shot, giving MiraCosta the ball with eight seconds left.  The Spartans dribbled the ball down, made two passes, and found Samantha Mowrey who released the shot just in time.  As the ball went through the basket, the buzzer went off and the Spartans completed their comeback, buzzer beater victory.

Ybarra-Garrett led MiraCosta in scoring with 11 points and Mowrey scored 10, including the game winning shot. Jasmine McNeal was a defensive force, finishing with multiple blocks and a number of rebounds.

MiraCosta earned a much needed win to start their conference schedule with a 1-0 record.  The Spartans are next in action on Friday at San Diego City College for a 5pm tip off.
