MiraCosta Earns Bid to CCCAA State Playoffs

After finishing in second place in the PCAC standings with a 9-5 record, the MiraCosta women's basketball team earned the #22 seed and an opportunity to compete in the CCCAA state playoffs.  In their opening round game the Spartans will travel to Riversity City College (#11) on Wednesday, Feb 22nd, for a 7:30PM tip off.

MiraCosta is coming off an energetic win against Southwestern College (70-64), which locked them into a 3-way tie for 2nd place in the conference.  The Spartans are led in scoring by freshman guard Deyjanae Williams who averages 16 points per game. Williams also leads MiraCosta in rebounds per game, with eight per game. Freshman forward Yasi Sharp adds 6.5 rebounds per game for the Spartans. Sophomore guard Frida Caballero leads MiraCosta with three steals in addition to her five points per game.

If the Spartans win at Riverside, on Saturday they will take on Long Beach City College, the #6 seed.
