Spartans Victorious Against Griffins

On Friday the MiraCosta women's basketball team welcomed Grossmont College in a conference game that could help the Spartans stay near the top of the standings.  The game started off slow, with both teams having difficulty scoring.  At the end of the first quarter the score was 7-6 and it was tied at 16 at halftime.

In the third quarter MiraCosta found their groove and took control of the game, scoring 15 points.  Not only did they score points in the third quarter, they also held the Griffins to one field goal, and a total of four points.

The final score was 44-25, which improves the Spartans to a 6-2 record in PCAC play.

Freshman guard, Deyjanae Williams led the way with 20 points.  The Spartans also got balanced contributions from Frida Caballero, Allie Lorton, Yasi Sharpe, Symere Shelton, Jada Hughes and Dana Cephas.  As as been the norm in their season, the size and athleticism of the MiraCosta line up bothered the opponents, which was one reason that led to the low scoring situation for Grossmont.

The Spartans are next in action on Wednesday, at San Diego City College for a 5PM tip off.
