In their first home game of the year the MiraCosta women's basketball team started slow but eventually found their rhythm in a strong overall performance. The Spartans entered the game with a 2-1 record, earning wins at the San Bernardino Valley tournament against Copper Mountain and Compton. In Thursday's game MiraCosta hosted LA Harbor College, coming from the South Coast Conference.

The Spartans started slow in the first quarter but the early baskets by Acacia Denton kept them close. Later in the game MiraCosta's ten player rotation eventually showed to be very effective against the smaller roster of LA Harbor.  In addition to Denton the Spartans got strong guard play from Cypree Stevens, Symere Shelton, Abigail Aguilar and Eva Mejia.  The Spartans were equally as impactful in their front court, winning the rebounding game and scoring a significant amount of points in the paint.  The center duo of Jada Hughes and Kiara Cassidy were nearly impossible for LA Harbor to match up with and forwards Alexis Morgan, Ocean Yocum.

Denton led the Spartans in scoring with 32 points (including five three point shots), while Stevens and Cassidy added 16 and 11 respectively.

With the win MiraCosta improves to 3-1 and will next be in action on Tuesday at Cerritos College for a 6PM.
