SPARTANS BATTLE MOUNTIES, COME UP SHORT

SPARTANS BATTLE MOUNTIES, COME UP SHORT

On Friday, the MiraCosta men's soccer team took on state power, Mt. San Antonio College.  Mt. SAC was a finalist in last years 3C2A state tournament.

With five saves, sophomore goalkeeper Andrik Rodriguez gave the Spartans a good fighting chance against the Mounties. Down 1-0 in the start of the first half, the Spartans held off Mt. SAC with confidence on and off the ball. MiraCosta continued to hold possession, pressure and create opportunities for the following 38 minutes. Hungry for a goal, Jonathan Gomez made Mt. SAC uncomfortable with two shots on target. However, conceding another goal in the 55th minute, the Spartans fell behind 2-0.  Mt. SAC was unable to score again for the last 35 minutes of the game due to the immense effort and pressure the Spartans gave until the last whistle.

MiraCosta is next in action on Wednesday, September 20th, at Rio Hondo College.
