Spartans Dominate Rival Palomar

In their second conference match of the year the MiraCosta men's soccer team played their best game of the year.  The Spartans have played arguably the most challenging non-conference schedule in the state, which has they playing at a high level as they begin conference play.  MiraCosta made the short trip down the 78 freeway to conference rival Palomar College, a game that annually is highly anticipated. The Spartans earned an impressive 3-1 win over the rival Comets, and improve their conference schedule to 1-0-1.

MiraCosta's first goal came early in the game (7th minute) when the Spartans earned a PK and Jose Aguirre scored it.  The second goal for MiraCosta came in the 20th minute when Geoge Silva scored an unassisted goal.  David Garcia scored the Spartans their third goal in the 36th minute helping MiraCosta take a 3-0 lead into halftime.  Garcia's goal was assisted by Jake Tovar who received a through ball from Mikey Aceves.

In the second half the Spartans continued their dominant play but the score remained the same until Palomar scored a goal in the 90th minute.

With the win MiraCosta holds the top spot in the conference standings going into their next game on Tuesday against Imperial Valley College.
