Last Second Shot Helps Spartans Overcome LA Valley

Despite a slow start and trailing at halftime, the MiraCosta men's basketball team found a way to stay in the game.  With three seconds left and down by three points, freshman forward Kobe Smith made a three point shot and was fouled.  After converting the 4-point play, MiraCosta took the lead and held on to move forward to the second round of the West LA Wild West Shootout.

Freshman poing guard, Lee Hubbard III, led the way with 19 points.  Hubbard III made seven field goals and was perfect from the freethrow line, making 3-3.  Freshman forward Remington Rofer added 13 points and four rebounds.  Smith, who hit the game winning shot, scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds, just short of a double-double.

The Spartans, still short-handed, finally got Javion Langston on the court, a 6-8 freshman forward. Langston was perfect from the floor, making all three shots, finishing with nine points and seven rebounds.

With the win MiraCosta improves to 4-3, and will face Long Beach City College on Friday at 7PM at West LA College.
