Oceanside, CA — The MiraCosta Spartans continued their push toward the 3C2A state tournament with an emphatic sweep over Imperial Valley College on Friday evening. The Spartans dominated from the opening serve, winning in straight sets, 25-12, 25-13, and 25-15. This victory, MiraCosta's second in a row, strenghtens their hold on second place in the conference standings.
MiraCosta's offensive onslaught was led by standout performances from Daysha Halbert and Sarah Campo-Sanchez. Halbert recorded a match-high 13 kills, hitting an impressive .435, while Campo-Sanchez tallied 10 kills with a remarkable .625 hitting percentage. Alexis Jones also contributed 10 kills, showing her prowess at the net, and added two service aces.
Setter Megan Jo Martin orchestrated the attack with 42 assists, ensuring a balanced offensive effort that kept Imperial Valley off guard. Martin also contributed defensively with four digs and two block assists.
