
The MiraCosta women's volleyball team won a close 3-1 match over cross town rival, Palomar College. Each game was close, with MiraCosta winning the first (25-21), third (25-23) and fourth (25-19). Entering the match Palomar College had been voted the #22 ranked team in the state.
The Spartans had a balanced offensive attack led by Daysha Halbert, finishing with 15 kills and 24 digs. Alexis Jones added 10 kills and Sarah Campo-Sanchez scored nine. Freshman setter, Megan Jo Martin, shared the ball around and finished with 33 assists along with her nine digs.
Defensively, libero Ellie Perez supported Halbert's strong game with 21 digs of her own.Feagaiga Naotala and Jones finished with 12 and 10 digs respectively.
The win keeps MiraCosta undefeated in conference play, but has special importance considering the two college's long standing rivalry.
The Spartans are next in action on Wednesday at Grossmont College.
