As the MiraCosta College women's volleyball team gears up for the new season, there's a palpable buzz in the air. After finishing third in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference last season, the Spartans have their sights set on the ultimate prize—a championship title. With the return of second-year head coach Rylee Arispe, the team is more determined than ever to build on last year's successes and reach new heights.
Leading the charge is returning all-conference standout Daysha Halbert, a force on the outside who will undoubtedly be a key player in the Spartans' quest for the title. Joining her is an exciting mix of talent, including the much-anticipated freshman setter, Megan Jo Martin, whose skill and court vision have already turned heads in preseason practices.
Adding to the team's depth are incoming freshmen Trinity Faasa and Feagaiga Naotala, both of whom bring championship pedigree from Oceanside High School, where they played pivotal roles in capturing a CIF title and nearly clinching a state championship. Their winning mentality and experience will be invaluable as the Spartans navigate a challenging schedule.
Returning sophomores Alexis Jones and Sarah Campo-Sanchez are also set to make a significant impact this season. Jones, an outside hitter, and Campo-Sanchez, a middle blocker, both had strong seasons last year and are eager to elevate their game even further in pursuit of a championship.
The roster is rounded out by a dynamic group of players, including Sara Lewis (DS, Fr.), Sidnie Giddings-Parker (DS, So.), Eli Zdravecky (DS, So.), Ellie Perez (L, Fr.), Elle Scott (M, Fr.), and Kayona Feliciano-Taele (Fr.), all of whom bring unique strengths and energy to the court.
The season opener against Mt. San Jacinto on August 30th will be the first test of this team's mettle, but with a blend of seasoned leadership, fresh talent, and a hunger for victory, the Spartans are ready to make their mark and bring a championship home to MiraCosta.
