Spartans Sweep Jets in Three Sets

Team celebrates after winning a big point.

Coming off two huge games where the MiraCosta women's volleyball team earned wins against Mesa College (#9) and Grossmont College (#10), the big question was if they could keep the momentum going against an unranked opponent.  On Friday the Spartans beat Miramar College in three straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-19.  The scrappy Jets team was competitive but didn't have enough to take a set off of the MiraCosta squad that was ranked #14 at the time.

Strong play from middles Leigha Malecha and Ruki Kennedy supported the dymanic pin attack from Hayley Torres and Savannah So'oto. Setter Brooke Kuball quarterbacked the team finishing with 43 assists.  The defense was anchored by So'oto and libero Paola Peralta who combined for 27 of the Spartan's 41 digs.

With the win MiraCosta improves to 18-5 and 12-3 in conference play.  The Spartans are next in action on Wednesday, November 13 at home against San Diego City College at 6PM.
