MiraCosta Overcomes Imperial Valley After First Game Scare

After losing the first game 24-26 the MiraCosta women's volleyball team had to collect themselves and get ready for a competitive match.  The Spartans went on to win the next three games 25-14, 25-16 and 25-11 and the overall match 3-1. Hayley Torres and Leigha Malecha led MiraCosta with 17 and 16 kills respectively.  Malecha hit a very efficient .536 for the night while also adding five blocks. Savannah So'oto added 12 kills while hitting a .458.

Felicity So'oto quarterbacked the team with 52 assists and four digs.  The back row was anchored by last week's CCCWVCA state player of the week Paola Peralta who finished with 30 digs.

With the win MiraCosta improves to 7-2 and a top three RPI in the south.

The Spartans will next be in action on Friday as they travel to Cuyamaca College.
