The MiraCosta women's volleyball team opened their season with the LA Pierce College tournament this past weekend. After two tough losses on the first day  the Spartans found their rhythm. In a win on the second day of the tournament against Pasadena City the Spartans won in three games (25-16, 25-17, 25-12).The Spartans demonstrated a balanced attack with Reilly Bosworth, Claudia Mathews and Violeti Faleumu all finishing with seven kills. Hayley Huntsman dished out 22 assists and other strong contributions were made by Jillian Nickens, Camryn Seamens, Michelle Mason and Savannah Castellanos.

In their second win of the weekend the Spartans beat Golden West College in four games (17-25, 25-11, 25-16, 25-19). Hayley Huntsman had a remarkable 47 assists and Violeti Faleumu contributed 13 kills and 19 digs.

The Spartans will next be in action at Bakersfield College on Saturday September 2nd.
