The MiraCosta College women's soccer team has solidified its dominance in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC), securing back-to-back championships with an incredible undefeated conference record of 15-0-1. This marks two consecutive seasons without a single conference loss, a testament to their exceptional skill, teamwork, and resilience.
In a defining moment of their season, the Spartans clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory over Southwestern College in late October. This hard-fought match all but sealed their championship title, as the team displayed exceptional composure under pressure, fighting off a tough challenge to secure the win. It was a true testament to the Spartans' ability to step up when it mattered most.
Throughout the season, MiraCosta showcased dominance, outscoring opponents 82-8 across 21 games. Leading the charge was sophomore Lena Bachman, whose remarkable 19 goals and 9 assists totaled 47 points, making her the team's top scorer. Key contributions also came from Jazmyne Arispe, with 12 assists, and Raigan Jager, who added 8 goals and 4 assists. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Arely Sarabia anchored the backline with a stellar 0.64 goals-against average, achieving 9 shutouts.
Other standout moments of the season included commanding wins like their 10-0 rout of Cuyamaca and a 9-0 shutout against Grossmont. Even in close matches, such as their 1-0 road victory at Palomar, the Spartans proved their grit and determination. In their final game, MiraCosta shut out San Diego Mesa College, for their 15th victory in conference.
Now, the Spartans set their sights on the state playoffs, opening at home against Bakersfield College on Wednesday at 2 PM. With the confidence of back-to-back championships and a legacy of excellence, MiraCosta is poised to make a deep run in the postseason.
