MiraCosta Spartans Women's Soccer: A New Season with High Expectations

The MiraCosta College women's soccer team is gearing up for an exciting 2024-2025 season, building on the momentum from last year's historic campaign. After securing their first-ever Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) championship with a dominant 12-0-2 record, the Spartans are ready to take on new challenges under the leadership of Head Coach Rob Freise.

Coach Freise, who served as an assistant coach during last year's championship run, now takes the helm with the goal of continuing the culture of excellence established by his predecessor, Matt Hall. The Spartans are coming off a season where they outscored conference opponents 76-3, showcasing their prowess on both ends of the pitch. Returning players like goalkeeper Arely Sarabia, forward Lena Bachman, and midfielder Jazmyne Arispe, who were instrumental in last season's success, are expected to lead the charge once again.

This year's roster features a blend of seasoned sophomores and promising freshmen, including new faces like defender Verily Mikichi and forward Mackinley Menkee. With a strong defensive line anchored by returnees such as Raigan Jager and Mylie Tinaisamoa, and a potent attack led by Bachman and Arispe, the Spartans have the depth and talent to compete at the highest level.

The season kicks off with a home opener against Saddleback on August 23, followed by key matchups against conference rivals like San Diego Miramar and Grossmont. With a challenging schedule ahead, the Spartans will need to maintain their focus and determination to defend their title and aim for a deeper run in the 3C2A state playoffs.

As the new season begins, the Spartans are not just playing to win games—they're playing to uphold a legacy of excellence that has quickly become the hallmark of MiraCosta College women's soccer. With high expectations and a championship mindset, this team is poised to make another memorable run.
