Entering today's match with a three game win streak the MiraCosta women's soccer team was brimming with confidence.  The task at hand was a difficult one. San Diego Mesa College was 11-1 on the year and one of the top teams in the state (ranked 15th in the power points.)  Despite the resume of their opponent, Coach Miguel Barragan led Spartans on the field with the belief that they could win, and they did.

After trailing 1-0 early in the first half the Spartans responded with a goal by Bianca Gastelum, assisted by Valerie Mathys.  Before the first half ended the Spartans found an opporntunity to score their second goal with a Peyton Brittain attack assisted by Alexandria Stewart.

The second half brought a defensive formation for MiraCosta and although San Diego Mesa had opportunities to even the score, the Spartans escaped with the statement victory.  MiraCosta goal keeper Vanessa Llamas contributed key saves throughout the game to ensure the victory.

The Spartans will take their four game win streak on the road Friday at San Diego City College for a 1pm kickoff.
