Spartans Finish Griffins For Conference Win

In the first few minutes of the women's basketball game at MiraCosta College the Grossmont Griffins were competitive and kept the score close.  After a late first quarter run lead by the dynamic defense of the Spartans, MiraCosta pulled away and won the game by a final score of 81-53.  With the win MiraCosta improves to 11-5 and 3-0 in conference play, tied for first heading into Friday's match up at Palomar College.

MiraCosta's high powered offense scored fast break points off of their defense but also made six three point shots.  Sophomore guard Chynna Cochran led the way with 24 points, Julia Iman added 22 points and Savannah Beasley contributed ten.  Defensively, Kiva Reyes set the tone with her high energy pressure defense while the paint was controlled by Madison Rowe, Emmy Wiemann and McKena Stoeff.

The Spartans will travel to Palomar College on Friday to determine who will remain in first place in the conference standings. Tip off is at 5:30PM.
