Women's Basketball Opens New Season with Two Wins

The MiraCosta women's basketball team opened their 2019-20 season with two wins.  On Friday the Spartans beat Cerritos, running away with the win by a final score of 68-50.  On Saturday MiraCosta found themselves in a close game with Victor Valley College but managed to hold on for a 67-64 victory. 

Against Cerritos College Savannah Beasley led the Spartans in scoring with 17. Julia Iman and Chynna Cochran added 15 and 14 respectively.  MiraCosta also got strong contributions from inside players Emmy Weimann and Uneque Fradieu.

On Saturday against Victor Valley Iman led all scorers with 22 points and scored six points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.  Cochran scored 21 including a handful of points on the fast break.  Beasley added sic points and Kiva Reyes and Madison Rowe both scored five points on the night. 

With the wins MiraCosta opens their season with a record of 2-0 heading into their next games in the West LA tournament starting on November 8th.
