Spartans Open Coast Classic With Two Wins

In the second annual Spartan Coast Classic women's basketball tournament the MiraCosta women's team has won their first two games in convincing fashion.  The Spartans opened the tournament with a 71-47 win over Imperial Valley College. Chynna Cochran (16 points) and Britney Jarvis (15 points) led the way. Sophomore Aly Murray added 10 points including two three point shots.  MiraCosta took control of the game in the second quarter with their swarming defense, scoring 29 points and holding the Arabs to only 11 points.  All ten Spartan players scored in the game.

In day 2 of the tournament MiraCosta started hot leading at the end of the first quarter against Mesa College by a score of 17-7. At points of the game Mesa College had a difficult time getting the ball across half court with MiraCosta forcing numerous 10 second violations with their incredible defensive intensity.  Britney Jarvis led the Spartans in scoring with 16 points including four three points shots.  Chynna Cochran, Savannah Beasley, Julia Iman and Helena Betancourt all had noticeable impact on the game with their defensive prowess.  MiraCosta also had to find a way to slow down Mesa College's inside players which they accomplished with the support of McKena Stoeff, Uneque Fradiue and Victoria Wilson.

The Spartans will take on San Diego City College tonight on Wednesday at 6PM.
