The MiraCosta men's soccer team took the road on Tuesday when they traveled to San Diego City College for a PCAC match. After 90 minutes, it was clear that the Spartans were the better team, leaving with a well earned 4-1 win. With the win, MiraCosta improves their record to 4-1-1 in conference, which is good enough for first place in the current standings.
Alexis Aparicio got the Spartans started early, scoring in the fourth minute of the game from assists by Jose Mondragon and Isaac Ramos. Later in the first half Rudy Padilla's goal gave MiraCosta a 2-0 lead. Padilla was assisted by Denzel Zepeda. Shortly after halftime the Spartans scored their third goal when Juan "Tato" Serrano scored off of a Denzel Zepeda pass. The Spartan's final goal was Aparicio's second of the game, coming from Serrano.
Jeshua Lombana played the majority of the game in goal (80 minutes), while Andrik Rodriguez played the remaining 10 minutes anchoring the MiraCosta defense.
The victory sets up a critical conference match on Friday, when second place Cuyamaca College comes to Oceanside to take on the conference leading Spartans.
