On Saturday, the MiraCosta men's soccer team traveled to Orange Coast College for their last non-conference game before they begin Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play. The result was a resounding 7-0 win, earning them a two game winning streak, having already beat Rio Hondo College on Wednesday.
At Orange Coast, the Spartans came out inspired. Early in the game, sophomore Alexis Aparicio scored two goals within six minutes of each other. His first goal, assisted by freshman defender Leo Ayala, was in the 17th minute. Shortly after, he scored in the 23rd minute to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead. Just minutes later, Juan Manuel Serrano scored to increase the MiraCosta lead to 3-0.
Jesus Martinez, who scored two goals that day, scored his first in the 30th minute and also scored the Spartans' final goal of the game, in the 83rd minute. Denzel Zepeda scored the fifth goal and Alexis Aparicio scored the sixth, completing the hat-trick.
The MiraCosta offense finished with an impressive total of 19 shots and 13 shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Andrik Rodriguez played all 90 minutes, recorded the shutout, and had two saves.
The Spartans begin conference play on Tuesday at Cuyamaca College at 3:15pm.
