Spartan's Season Ends in 3C2A State Tournament

Game Recap: MiraCosta at Cerritos - February 28, 2024

In a tightly contested battle, Cerritos College edged out MiraCosta College with a final score of 70-67 on February 28, 2024. This win brought Cerritos' record to 20-9, while MiraCosta dropped to 19-10.  With the loss, the Spartan's season ended in the first round of the 3C2A state tournament.

Cerritos held a narrow lead at halftime, going into the break up 31-27. The second half saw both teams ramp up their intensity, but Cerritos managed to maintain their lead, despite MiraCosta outscoring them 40-39 in the second period.

Key Performers

MiraCosta College:

  • Kobe Smith was the standout player of the game, scoring a game-high 30 points on 11-21 shooting, including 2-3 from beyond the arc. He also grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 3 assists.
  • Ty Cox chipped in with 9 points, all from three-point range, in just 27 minutes of play.
  • Donavan Freeman and DaVaughn McCrumb added 6 and 7 points respectively, with Freeman also leading the team with 5 assists.
