Two MiraCosta basketball players were selected as the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Month.  Chynna Cochran (WBB) and Marcus Foster (MBB)  were both honored for their tremendous play in the month of January.  Cochran led the Spartans to a 7-1 record in January and a 7-0 mark in conference play which puts them in sole possession of first place currently.  She averaged 16 points and 4.5 rebounds per game including a high game of 30 points against Southwestern College.

Marcus Foster was a catalyst for the men's team that earned a 7-3 record in January. He aveaged 14 points per game and shot a blistering 54% from three-point range.  He had a high of 25 points against Fresno City College, making 7-of-9 shots from beyond the arc.

Both teams are currently in contention of a CCCAA state playoff berth.
