What started as a great opportunity for the MiraCosta men's basketball team eventually became a one-sided game, showing why Southwestern College (#6 in the state) is undefeated in conference.  When it was all said and done, the Spartans didn't have enough to keep pace with their opponents, losing 84-60.  With the result MiraCosta moves to 14-10 overall and 8-4 in conference play.

The Spartans started the game strong, staying within striking distance. However as the game progressed the length and athleticism of the Jaguars proved to be too much.  The Spartans had two players score in double digits, Dirk Helaire II (10) and Trent Stechschulte (10).  Southwestern's defense made it difficult for MiraCosta to find good shots and held them well below their season scoring average (71.)
