Spartans Lose in a High Scoring Game Against Mt. San Jacinto College

Coming into their first conference game of the year the MiraCosta men's basketball team looked confident. Depite losing their last two games, they played Southwestern and LA Pierce tough and had chances to win.  Mt. San Jacinto would present MiraCosta's toughest challenge thus far, entering the game 15-2 and ranked #3 in the state. MiraCosta once again competed for 40 minutes and had chances to win but in end the Spartans lost the game with the final score of 106-94.

In the first half both teams played with tenacity and there were a number of lead changes. Strong team play kept MiraCosta in the game but unfortunately in the last few minutes the Eagles pulled away for the win. The leading scorer for the Spartans was Freshman Marcus Foster with 21 points, joined by Freshman Devyian Roberson (20 points) and Sophomore Tre Morgan with 17. MiraCosta got strong bench play from sophomore Connor Ramirez and Thomas Donati, both contributing on the offensive end.

With the loss MiraCosta falls to 9-10 overall and 0-1 in coference. They are next in action Wednesday in an away game against College of the Desert at 7PM.
