MiraCosta Teams Win All Three on Friday

It was a good day for the MiraCosta Spartan athletic teams on Friday.  Men's soccer, women's soccer and women's volleyball were all in action, and the Spartans finished 3-0 on the day with wins against Cuyamaca, Imperial Valley and Norco.  

The women's soccer team was on the road at Norco College for a non-conference match.  The Spartans dominated for 90 minutes finishing with a remarkable 30 shots on goal and a 2-0 victory.  Mandy Lara started the scoring for MiraCosta, with a goal in the 13th minute of the game.  Her goal was assisted by Jordan Fawcett and Briar Van Slyke.  The second goal for MiraCosta came from Casey Martinez, with the assist going to Karla Gonzalez.  Goalkeeper Tristyn Wright played the full 90 minutes and recorded two saves in the shutout win.

The men's soccer team played host to Imperial Valley and was aggressive early.  The Spartans scored four goals in the first 27 minutes to take control of the match.  Goals were scored by Alexis Aparicio (7 min), Jason Espinoza (13 min), Jose Aguirre (19 min), and Rudy Padilla (27 min.)  The Spartan outshot their opponents 24-2 and kept posession a majority of the second half in the 4-0 win.

The last game of the day for Spartan fans was the women's volleyball team as they hosted Cuyamaca College.  The 3-1 improves MiraCosta to 5-1 in conference and 11-4 overall.  Kailyn Jager led the way with 14 kills, hitting a .480.  Jackie Gracey (8) and Makayla Hicks (&) were also important to the Spartan offensive attack.  Setter Summer Hoslett quarterbacked the team, finishing with 27 assists, three kills and four digs.
