MiraCosta Earns Way to the Finals of LA Mission Tournament

In the second weekend of the season the MiraCosta women's volleyball team travelled to LA Mission tournament for two days of competition.  The Spartans finished 3-1 and lost in the finals but had an overall successful weekend.

On the first day MiraCosta only lost one set, beating Imperial Valley 3-1 and LA Mission 3-0.  In the first game the Spartans had a well balanced offensive attack with Kailyn Jager (17), Jackie Gracey (14) and Makayla Hicks (13) all making their presence felt.  Jager and libero Riley Komo both finished the match with 20 digs, holding down the back line.   In the second game of the day MiraCosta swept LA Mission College in a close match (25-23, 25-16, 25-19.) Jager led the way offensively with 15 kills. Setter Summer Hoslett finished the day with a total of an impressive 68 assists, quarterbacking the Spartan squad.

On day two MiraCosta was ready, beating Citrus College 3-1.  Kailyn Jager was the lone Spartan in double digit kills, finishing with 17.  The defensvie side was a team effort with five players finishing with eight or more digs.

In the finals the Spartans appeared to be worn down, dropping the match to Cypress College 3-1.  

MiraCosta will next be in action on Wednesday at home against El Camino College.
