On Wednesday night the MiraCosta women's volleyball team took the court against Saddleback College in a non-conference match. Saddleback entered the match 4-2 but left without a winning a single game. The Spartans, despite sloppy play at times, did enough late in each set to earn tight wins with final scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-18.
MiraCosta received strong offensive play from Leigha Malecha, Savannah So'oto, Hayley Torres and Delaney McDonald. Gabriella Petersen made some tremendous energy plays with kills and blocks at important times of the match.
With the win the Spartan extend their win streak to four in a row, and the overall record to 5-1. This match will lead MiraCosta in what might be their toughest weekend of the year, travelling to Irvine Valley College (#2 in the state) on Friday and hosting Bakersfield College (#4 in the state) on Saturday at 1PM.
