In front of an energized Spirit Week crowd the women's volleyball team at MiraCosta was firing on all cylinders. The Spartans were dominant from the first serve, sweeping Mt. San Jacinto in three games with final scores of 25-16, 25-8, and 25-12. The offensive attack was balanced with Hayley Torres, Halie Hess, Maddy Letterman, Shannon Evans and Leigha Malecha leading the way. Setter Kacy Hele distributed the ball to her many offensive options with confidence while she also took advantage of her own opportunities to score kills.
The defense was anchored by Hanley Lomax but the Spartans also had a great presence at the net with Leigha Malecha and Maddy Letterman creating major barriers to the Eagles' ability to score points.
With the win MiraCosta improves to 13-2 overall and 3-0 in conference heading into the rivalry game against Palomar College. The Spartans host the Comets on Friday at 6PM.
